CCPD RESPONSES TO COVID-19

For over a decade, we've promoting access to clean water, safe sanitation and hygiene. We had established more than 13 wells, 13 VIP and 20 ecological toilets established in rural communities of Kpalimé. Learn more.

In this time of Covid-19, expanding on that work has become more important than ever. Help us...

Provide clean water

The Covid-19 pandemic has shifted the practice of washing one’s hand from a ‘’should’’ to a ‘’must’’. Although the habit seems outwardly simple, establishing a consistent routine can be difficult for people with limited access to water and handwashing device.
We are looking for support for the construction of water supplies like the ferro-cement water tanks in order to store rainwater collected from roofs in order to secure water for washing hands in homes and places of public attendance. Read more.

Grow more food

Food and nutritional insecurity is the major cause of the dropout of children in Togo. This food insecurity is due to the fact that crop reserves are running out sooner than expected because farmers sell their crops to earn money to afford scholastic materials. There is a need to set up stocks of food, typically basic provisions and nonperishable items, which will be supplied to people in need free of charge in time of food shortage.
This project aims to enhance livelihood and income opportunities with sustainable agriculture and other non-farm activities. Read more.

Provide access to online school

The Covid-19 pandemic has revealed to many schools of developing countries the need to develop a website and home schooling online. It has also revealed the urgency for every poor child and family to have a computer and access the internet at home. The level of urgency is so high considering the number ever increasing of out of school youths roaming the streets and young girls at risk of dropping out of school; pregnancy and early marriage. Read more.

Increase access to sanitation facilities

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought the importance of ecological sanitation up to date. In these times of high demand in water due to the practice of hand washing, urine-diversion and VIP latrines can save people on water bills. When these latrines are used no water is needed. However, in many less privileged communities, existing (old, abandoned or uncompleted) WASH facilities are inappropriate for use, unless refurbished.
